Prototype appointment card.

Reasonably happy with the layout - I've tried to keep it consistent with the business card where possible.
The back of the card is cut from one sheet of printed pattern, which will eventually be screen printed with a gradient. It's cheaper to pay for the screen and paint when printing such a large quantity - than front the costs of the digital print room...Plus I want to experience of screen printing these myself, I wouldn't gain anything from having these digitally printed.

I was still trying to decide whether or not the business card and appointment card were going to be combined at this stage.. it's quite a challenge to fit so much on such a small format.
I decided to split the two in the end, in order to achieve a more pleasing layout, but also because it struck me that it wouldn't really make the process of printing these any easier or cheaper in the long run.

So, the main concern with this project is the budget. I'm trying to find as many ways as possible to keep the cost of this down - whilst maintaining a high quality design and finish.
I've decided on screenprinting because:

• It's relatively cheap
• It adds a tactile quality
• It will give the illusion of an expensive print finish
• Hand printed will feel more personal - like the service she provides (I've thought about this, honest).

I am trying to get a design that will be easy on ink usage and easy to align. It would be beneficial if one side was just a repeating pattern, or something that didn't have be aligned - But I'll only do this if it's the appropriate solution.

Lastly - again to save on cost of having to print multiple formats - I'm trying to find a way to combine both a business card and an appointment card that she can leave with her students as a reminder of their next session. This is also quite nice as it implies that whoever takes a business card is also booking an appointment - cheeky.

Digital Development

There were a few issues with some of the designs looking more like a 'B' - Think I managed to rectify this pretty easily though. Quite like the autumnal feel of the orange and yellow colourways as well - in keeping with the tone of voice and her original branding

It did cross my mind to make a typeface out of this - Not really my idea of fun, but it was something I mentioned in my rational. I'll address that later, for now one letter was hard enough.

This needs further development, but I quite like the combination of type an image here. The leaf shape can then be taken out of this context and used as a visual tool elsewhere on it's own.
This addresses some of the problems Graham pointed out with the Zodiac brief about the type and image being too separate, or not linked.

Tess already has a bit of a visual style for her band and other musical ventures -

She wanted me to keep some of this in the logo for her private tuition business, so I've kept the 'leaf' imagery but updated it somewhat. I also took inspiration from the bass clef symbol, I don't want this to turn out looking like some kind of eco-aware campaign.
